I am interested in the cognitive development of children in different economic classes. Prodigal children can be found anywhere but is the average child the same in any economic class. What research has been done to examine the cognitive development of children in different economic classes?

There are many more factors to researching cognitive development across economic classes than economic status. Factors include domestic abuse, neglect, and even hunger but there are many more as well. In children tested from a lower economic class the scores were, on average, lower when compared to the national average (Loughan, Perna). This Research method of testing one class and comparing then to the average seems flawed, would it not be more accurate to test children of all economic statuses.
